The Department of Art, Art History and Design within the College of Arts and Sciences at Oakland University seeks applicants for a full time Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art – Drawing/Painting beginning August 15, 2025.
The successful candidate must have an active and innovative practice grounded in traditional drawing / painting and for the expanded field of drawing / painting that could include printmaking, publishing, performance, book arts, installation art, or other related practices.
Teaching responsibilities include all levels of undergraduate art instruction including foundations, drawing, painting, special topics, seminar, and thesis courses, in addition to select appointed service requirements.
Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion and provide a statement in their application that describes their interest or efforts in developing a diverse faculty and student body through, e.g., mentoring, pedagogy, activism, faculty recruitment/retention, or research on issues related to diversity and social inequality.
Minimum Qualifications:
-MFA in Drawing, Painting, or related field
-one year teaching experience
-proven practice and exhibition record
-commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
-evidence of academic and professional service
