The Department of Music at Skidmore College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor, specializing in Music Technology, to begin in Fall 2025. We seek an innovative artist-scholar with a broad understanding of music technology who will complement and deepen our existing strengths in the Music Department. We welcome candidates committed to liberal arts education who will help us build a future-oriented approach to music studies. The successful candidate will be able to draw on a number of resources to enrich our offerings in music technology, including our technology classroom, the Grossman Recording Studio. The workload includes overseeing this state-of-the-art space for music creation.
Education and experience:
We seek candidates with a terminal degree in Music (PHD or DMA) who relish the opportunity to work with undergraduate students at all levels and who value the role of music technology within a liberal arts Music context.
Candidates should be able to teach in at least one of the following areas: musical composition (including digital musical production, sound design, songwriting, or film / videogame scoring), sound recording and engineering, popular music studies, or the history of sound recording and electronic music. We are particularly interested in candidates who have active career practices in a variety of styles and genres, engagement with broader intellectual concerns and conversations, and an interest in collaborating with faculty and students in a highly interdependent department and across the Skidmore campus.
All tenured and tenure-track faculty at Skidmore are expected to design and teach an interdisciplinary seminar for first-year students as part of Skidmoreâ™s First Year Experience (FYE) Program. Faculty at Skidmore are also expected to participate fully in the life of the College.

Pay Rate: $75,000 to $110,000, depending on rank
