JOB DESCRIPTION
The Upper School History teacher will be responsible for providing a student-centered, supportive approach in history instruction for students in grades 9-12.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct instruction to students in History. Core classes include Political Science, Modern World Studies, Modern U.S. Studies, Psychology, and Western Civilization.
Develops an ongoing working knowledge of each individual student’s educational and emotional needs.
Effectively collaborates with learning specialists to integrate recommended teaching strategies into content area classes.
Communicates with parents to address learning concerns of students.
Provides individual student assessment as needed.
Shows evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students.
Maintains complete and accurate records that are reflective of a student’s performance and growth in knowledge.
Develops and maintains genuine, positive and consistent communication with parents.
Contributes to and benefits from the campus community.
Practices professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement.
Participates in curriculum writing and other developmental programs and activities.
Other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required for consideration.
A 9-12 History Teaching Certification
A plus:
Special Education Teaching Certification and/or Reading Specialist Certification.
Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience.

Maintains consistently positive attitude, strong teamwork, passionate, genuine, organized, internally motivated, service orientation, ability to reserve judgment and respond with curiosity and compassion.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
