Familiarity with teacher education accreditation standards;
History of and expertise in clinical teaching field experiences;
Experience teaching a variety of content areas (e.g., science, social studies, math, or ELAR), particularly at the middle level – grades 4-8.
Participation in professional organizations at local and national/international levels; Evidence of purposeful university outreach and foster productive relationships with local community members and organizations;
Record of scholarly productivity and evidence of emerging research agenda;
Demonstrated record of or potential for teaching excellence at the university level;
Demonstrated record of or potential for teaching excellence online and/or hybrid courses;
Strong working knowledge of academic research methodologies; and
Ability to build productive professional relationships with public schools, colleges, and local communities.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Full-time, tenure-track (9 month) position will teach 9 credit hours each Fall and Spring in the School of Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in middle level (Grades 4-8) teaching a range of core curriculum courses in undergraduate and/or graduate education. Embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community through high-quality, integrated teaching, scholarship, and service. Contribute to the program as a collaborative member of the department. Engage and collaborate in research and program development; continue the program's history of having a positive impact on a state, regional, national, and international level. Act as content expert and liaison in the area of middle level curriculum and instruction; and provide dedicated support for working with various student populations.
Other Specifications/Instructions for the Position:
The selected candidate will have to provide official transcripts for all degrees and total of three letters of recommendation prior to official hire if designated references do not submit a written recommendation by the deadline.
Educational Requirements for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field with an emphasis in Middle Level Education. (ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in September 2025.
Experience Required for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in public, intermediate, middle, or high school. Must hold or be eligible for state public school teaching certification. Experience working with teachers and/or pre-service teachers. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Experience with school-university partnerships focused on teacher preparation and teacher development. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and a willingness to communicate current trends in the field to students, incorporate these initiatives in coursework and other constituencies.
