AP US History Teacher

The Webb School seeks a full-time History Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The Webb School’s teachers are living examples of the mission of the school and embrace its Enduring Understandings. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Teach 5 sections within the History department - United States History and AP US History
• Serve as an advisor to 10-12 students
• Serve in the school’s afternoon enrichment or athletic program
• Serve as a support to the residential program either as a day faculty with occasional weekend duty or as a residential faculty member (depending on preference/fit)
• Sponsor a co-curricular club during the school day for one semester

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts in History, or equivalent; a Master’s degree is preferred
• Experience teaching AP US History 
• Experience in a boarding school is preferred but not required
• A commitment to culturally responsive teaching
• Desire to be actively engaged in all aspects of a boarding school

Characteristics of a successful candidate:

• Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality 
• A love for teaching high school students 
• Well developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment: students, coworkers, and parents
• Willingness to provide continual assessment of student progress and communicate academic performance through the use of reports and online grade books
• Ongoing awareness of developments and research in the field and use of this knowledge to ensure relevant lessons and best practices
• The flexibility to adjust teaching methods to suit different groups of learners
• Experience analyzing the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students and structuring lessons and assessments around them
• Ability to regularly work flexible hours to support before and after school or weekend events
