The Bates College Economics Department invites applications for a one-year (with the possibility of a second year, pending institutional approval and satisfactory job performance) visiting assistant professor position. The position begins in July, 2025. The successful candidate must combine research in their field(s) of specialization with a willingness to teach statistics using Stata and electives in their areas of expertise. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate preparedness to mentor undergraduate research. We are open to all subfields of economics, but preferences will be given to candidates with expertise in public economics, experimental economics, behavioral economics, or environmental economics. Candidates who have demonstrated success working with underrepresented and marginalized populations are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching load is five courses per academic year.
