JOB SUMMARY
Mid-Pacific middle school teachers are passionate about teaching and dedicated to supporting the unique developmental needs of adolescents, including both cognitive and social-emotional growth. As part of a collaborative and highly interdisciplinary community, teachers work across grade levels and content areas, requiring both depth and breadth of subject knowledge. This approach supports the development of students' critical thinking skills, encourages real-world applications, and integrates technology meaningfully into the curriculum.
Social-emotional learning is central to the Middle School experience. All teachers serve as advisors, cultivating strong, supportive relationships with students through the delivery of advisory program activities.
With expertise in the Humanities, the Middle School Humanities Teacher engages students in exploring the world through multiple perspectives using an integrated Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum. This role emphasizes inquiry, empathy, and communication to help students make meaningful connections between themselves, their communities, and the broader world.
While the primary focus of this position is in the Middle School, there may be opportunities to teach high school courses depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s qualifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In alignment with the school’s mission and vision, collaborate and co-create meaningful lessons and assessments with other humanities teachers within and across middle and high school grade levels as well as project-based learning opportunities with team members.
Address the needs of diverse learners through the use of various instructional and assessment tools and strategies.
Stay abreast of current research and develop professionally to improve teaching practice continually.
Work collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, and other members of the Mid Pacific community in support of students' needs.
Design and implement lessons and assessments in alignment with Mid Pacific’s Assessment Guidelines.
Record and post student grades electronically in a timely manner.
Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians as needed.
Possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to respond effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Language Arts, History, or a related Humanities field from an accredited university or college. A minimum of three years of middle-level teaching experience with a diverse student population is strongly preferred. An ability to teach High School classes as needed is preferred. Previous experience with project-based instruction preferred, but not required. Teacher Certification is preferred but not required.
At Mid-Pacific, we see children with original ideas and perspectives, with dreams, aspirations, emotions, and insights. We see students who celebrate these many characteristics and interests... and define who they are and how they learn. Faculty, administration, and staff are key components in this equation.
Our employees are one of our greatest strengths. Our goal is to recruit and retain the most qualified individuals based on how their experience and skills mesh with the school's mission and vision. Mid-Pacific employees are progressive, innovative and always place student needs first.
