Visiting Assistant Professor of History Hobart William Smith Colleges: Academic Positions: History

Description The History Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Latin American History, beginning August 1, 2025. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of five or six courses per year. Area and period of expertise is open, with a preference for the nineteenth and twentieth century.
Qualifications The successful candidate will be able to teach both colonial and modern surveys and topic-specific courses, including an advanced reading seminar drawn from the candidate's research expertise (preferably something that can be cross-listed with International Relations, Latin American Studies, and/or Africana Studies). Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. or ABD in Latin American History by summer 2025, possess a strong research agenda, and a record of or potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The salary range for this position is $49,300 - $68,000.
