Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Dickinson College is seeking a one year visiting Assistant Professor/Theatre Director in Acting and Directing, beginning in July of 2025, pending funding approval. We are seeking a vibrant artist whose primary responsibilities will include teaching introductory and advanced levels of Acting and Directing, Theatre as Social Exploration, and Theatre History. In addition, this position is responsible for directing one main stage production per year and helping supervise ongoing student projects, while maintaining an active professional presence. This position is a five-course load over the academic year- teaching 4 classes and directing one production. We are seeking an energetic, engaged, and enthusiastic colleague committed to diversity in curriculum and practice, intellectual rigor, and student engagement.The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate. The Department of Theatre and Dance at Dickinson College serves a varied group of students who crave exploring art and artmaking through the path of their choice. Many students thrive in an environment of formal coursework and practice, while others seek a broad liberal arts education which integrates live performance and civic engagement, global studies, or sustainability.
