This position will provide conceptual and operational support for the five programs within the Engaged Humanities Network (EHN): Engaged Communities, Engaged Courses, Undergraduate Research, Graduate Research, and Environmental Storytelling. All programs involve publicly engaged research and creative work, teaching and learning, and community programming with faculty, staff, and students across the University and community partners across Syracuse and Central New York. Responsibilities include the development and co-design of curricular offerings, programs, and projects across disciplines; consultation with faculty, students, and community partners on research, creative work, and curricular offerings; budget management; project management; recordkeeping and logistical support for EHN cohorts and project teams; development and maintenance of community partnerships; creation and distribution of internal and external communications; and resource database design and management.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Masters degree preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
The successful candidate will have expertise and extensive experience in community-engaged research, programming, and/or teaching; community development; program/project management; budget management; and written, verbal, visual, digital and technical communications.
Responsibilities:
Program management that includes:
Coordinating operations across EHN programs (Engaged Courses, Engaged Communities, Undergrad Research, Graduate Research, and Environmental Storytelling); designing and implementing activities and events tied to these programs; coordinating consistent exchanges among EHN associated cohorts of faculty, students, and community partners; consulting with faculty, students, and community partners on project and course design; tracking and managing action items that ensue for each of the 5 programs; developing evaluation metrics to measure program effectiveness; hiring and tracking work hours of undergraduate research assistants.
Budget planning & management that includes:
Collaborating with the Director of the EHN to develop program budgets and timelines; supporting awarded grant funding as well as supporting budgets for grant proposals; managing EHNs internal grants/awards processing plus managing operations budgets, co-sponsor requests, etc.; identifying and pursuing grant opportunities for EHN-directed projects; leading on budget planning as well as budget processing and reconciliations.
Campus and community partnerships to include:
Maintaining and growing relationships and projects with community collaborators and collaborating University programs, offices, and centers through consistent communication, participation in meetings and events, and resource sharing.
Communications design and implementation including:
Website design and management, crafting and issuing newsletters, social media posts, and managing list-serv type outreach.
Resource Management which includes:
Developing and managing EHN resource database for EHN programs, undergraduate and graduate research.
