Job Purposes::
The Department of Social Work offers a Bachelor (BA) degree accredited by the Council of Social Work Education. This position will be responsible for teaching 21-24 semester hours (7 courses) in Social Work over a two-semester academic year as well as serving as the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BSW) program director. The appointment would begin the Fall 2024 semester and is renewable.
The Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BSW) program director will significantly impact the success and growth of the program through the following efforts:
· Program Leadership and Oversight: The director plays a central role in providing leadership and oversight for the entire BSW program. They are responsible for shaping the program's vision, mission, and goals, ensuring its alignment with the institution's objectives.
· Curriculum Development and Management: The director is instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing the curriculum for the BSW program. They work to keep the curriculum current, relevant, and in line with best practices and emerging trends in the field of social work.
· Accreditation Compliance: Accreditation from bodies like the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is essential forBSW programs. A director is crucial for ensuring that the program maintains compliance with accreditation standards, including faculty qualifications, program outcomes, and continuous improvement.
· Student Success and Support: The director is responsible for creating an environment that supports student success. This includes overseeing student services, providing academic and career advising, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Required Qualifications::
Master's or above in Social Work (MSW) from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
Two (2) years post-MSW social work experience
Reliable transportation to various work locations is required.
Preferred Qualifications::
Experience teaching in Social Work
Current Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
Knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards
Demonstrated excellence in teaching social work curriculum
Three (3) or more years post-MSW social work experience
Experience with online teaching technologies
Essential Functions and percent of time::
70% – Teach 12 semester hours in the graduate Social Work curriculum and School Counseling Curriculum (reflects 50% course reduction for serving as BASW Program Director) 25% – Serve as BASW Program Director 10% – Student advising
Working Conditions::
Special contract position and is renewable contingent funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Travel to community colleges and events to market the program (which could include Columbus for NASW conference) required.
