Thank you for your interest in applying for a tenure-track faculty position in the Ethnic Studies area at Riverside City College! We are eager to learn about who you are and why you are passionate about teaching Ethnic Studies at our community college.

Riverside City College inspires, educates, and empowers a diverse community of students to transform their lives and their communities. To help further this work, we are looking for a colleague who will demonstrate discipline expertise and show sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds and abilities of community college students. We are looking for an instructor who possess a strong commitment to the discipline of Ethnic Studies; is committed to social and racial justice; and emphasize decolonial and anti-racist pedagogies. Teaching assignment may include early morning (e.g., 7am), day, evening, online, hybrid, and/or off campus classes.

The ideal candidate will share RCC's and the department of History, Philosophy, Humanities, and Ethnic Studies' commitment to educating its racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse student population. We currently enroll over 30,000 students, the majority of whom are from racially minoritized populations. Hispanic/Latinx students comprise 60% of RCC's student population, 8% are African American, 7% are Asian American, 0.3% are Native American, 0.7% are Pacific Islander, 21% are White, 2% are multiracial. Riverside City College has been designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the great responsibility that the College has to the educational attainment and economic well-being of the surrounding community. Master's in the ethnic studies field
OR
A master's in American Studies/Ethnicity, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race
and Ethnic Relations, Asian American Studies, or African American Studies OR the equivalent.

(All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions).
Experience:EXPERIENCE:
Recent experience working with African American/Black, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Chicanx, Latinx, Native American, Indigenous, and other racially/ ethnically, socioeconomically minoritized students in the classroom, and an understanding of how historical patterns have shaped these groups' experiences and representation within higher education, especially how real or perceived exclusion can shape patterns of participation and outcomes. Demonstration of a willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to engage and support various groups of minoritized students more effectively.

Demonstrated teaching excellence in Ethnic Studies along with expertise and the ability to develop and teach courses in African American/Black Studies, Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies, Chicanx and Latinx Studies, and Native American and Indigenous Studies, Comparative Ethnic Studies, critical race theory, decolonization, anti-racism, intersectional theory, prison/carceral abolitionist studies, and Borderland studies and migration.

Use of Ethnic Studies methods of inquiry, including but not limited to: intersectionality, decolonizing methodology, innovative transdisciplinary methodologies, anti-imperialist and abolitionist studies, social justice practices, and community-oriented activist action research.

Experience and/or interest in building Ethnic Studies curriculum and programming.

Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with colleagues across disciplines, to design, revise, and implement new and
existing curriculum and to advance the development of Ethnic Studies at the college and in the district.

Commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population with a broad mix of Ethnic Studies course offerings.

Duties and Responsibilities:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will, among other things:
1. Demonstrate commitment to student equity and ability to facilitate, participate and lead in programmatic efforts, both within the department and campus-wide, to help students in low-performing groups succeed.
2. Teach courses in the disciplines for which the candidate meets Minimum Qualifications or the equivalent and as assigned based on enrollment management principles and within discipline and department guidelines for course rotation and course scheduling. Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluations, office hours and institutional service such as participation on college committees, involvement in student activities and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement.
3. Teach assigned courses in accordance with course outline of record.
4. Instruct and support students with diverse backgrounds utilizing culturally relevant pedagogy, careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods including for online instruction, informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions, student learning outcomes, and support a philosophy of instruction focusing on critical thinking and analysis.
5. Maintain scheduled office and campus hours, and participate in department/division meetings and committees.
6. Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with administrative responsibilities and College, division, and department policies.
7. Teaching assignment may include early morning (e.g., 7am), day, evening, online, hybrid, and/or off campus classes.
8. Effective oral and written communication with students.
9. Commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
10. Provide Ethnic Studies discipline expertise in the collaborative creation of Ethnic Studies curriculum and lead the development of the Ethnic Studies Program in collaboration with multidisciplinary faculty colleagues.
11. Complete 24 hours of 'flex credit' through various professional development activities, workshops or seminars.
12. Expected professional obligations include participation in discipline/department decision-making processes, Improvement of Instruction, curriculum and program development, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, maintenance of legal documents and adherence to FERPA requirements.
13. Expected to maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
14. Hours may include evenings, weekends, and off-site locations.

1. Ten-month, tenure-track position.
2. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
3. Medical and dental benefits are provided for the employee and legal dependents.
4. A $50,000 life insurance policy is provided for the employee.
5. Orientation to college is required as is adherence to Improvement of Instruction policy.
6. Maintaining broad knowledge of the academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes is expected.
