ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Scriptural & Theological Instruction
Comprehensive Biblical Survey: Create and teach engaging lessons covering the Old and New Testaments, emphasizing their historical context, literary genres, and theological significance. All 9th grade students are required to take a semester-long Old Testament course, and all 10th grade students are required to take a semester-long New Testament course.
Integration of Faith & Reason: Utilize the Socratic Method to help students navigate the intersection of theology, philosophy, and history, fostering critical thinking and spiritual reflection.
Classical Alignment: Develop and implement course syllabi that align with the school’s classical education model and "whole-person" liberal arts philosophy.
Spiritual Leadership & Classroom Management
Faith Mentorship: Demonstrate a sincere passion for teaching the Bible and religion to teens, serving as a spiritual role model both in and out of the classroom.
Learning Environment: Maintain an orderly and aesthetic classroom that meets students’ social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Inclusivity & Pastoral Care: Demonstrate a compassionate commitment to serving and mentoring students from a wide variety of religious backgrounds, as well as those from non-faith homes, fostering an environment where all students feel respected and supported in their spiritual and intellectual journey.
Academic Standards: Prepare students for examinations and maintain accurate records of progress via VeraCross.
Assessment & Administration
Comprehensive Assessment: Design and administer formative and summative assessments, including analytical essays and oral presentations, to track student progress and inform instruction.
Data Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records for attendance and grading within VeraCross and utilize Google Suite for efficient workflow.
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, orderly, and aesthetically enriching learning environment conducive to student focus and engagement.
Professional Engagement
Parental Partnership: Maintain proactive and open communication with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
Faculty Collaboration: Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and attend school functions and traditions.
Continuous Growth: Pursue personal and professional growth through self-reflection and participation in the school’s evaluation programs.
