Athens Academy is a co-educational, non-sectarian, independent college preparatory day school of approximately 900 students in grades K3-12 that offers a traditional liberal arts curriculum and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Upper School:
Athens Academy’s Upper School (grades 9-12) is committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares students to lead successful and productive lives not only in their future academic pursuits in colleges and universities across the nation but also in their adult lives. The curricular structure challenges each student individually, while our diverse extra-curricular offerings provide students with the opportunity to be involved in activities in which they are interested. The Position:
Athens Academy seeks a full-time, dynamic, creative, and versatile Upper School English teacher beginning in August 2026. Essential characteristics include love of emerging adults, energy, optimism, flexibility, the ability to work with others, a good sense of humor, and a firm foundation in English education. We are looking for someone who is excited to join our community and who enjoys and understands adolescent learners. Teachers at Athens Academy convey a love of learning and instill in our students a curiosity about our world and the desire to apply what they learn to other disciplines and the world around them. Athens Academy’s faculty are also engaged with students beyond the classroom, including coaching and other extracurricular activities.
Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in English, or a related education field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
At least three years of teaching experience in upper-level English courses required.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
A commitment to fostering student enthusiasm for literature while maintaining high academic standards.
