Position Summary
Rowland Hall Upper School seeks an enthusiastic and innovative mathematics teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be excited to teach a range of upper school math courses and contribute to the continued development of our math program. We value educators who connect mathematics to real-world applications, support college and career readiness, and help students build confidence as quantitative thinkers. Experience or interest in data science, economics, statistics, applied mathematics (including interdisciplinary coursework), or advanced mathematics, is a plus. A commitment to fostering inclusive classrooms that challenge traditional narratives about who belongs in mathematics and empower all students to engage deeply with complex problem-solving is also essential.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Teach a variety of mathematics courses to students of varying ages and abilities
Participate actively in collaborative efforts of the department in improving and creating curriculum to support student learning and the mission of the department and the school
Lead or assist with an experience during Interim, a week of experiential-learning opportunities for students in grades nine through eleven
Participate in all-school, division, and department meetings
Collaborate and align with other teachers who are teaching the same course(s) as needed
Attend department and grade level team meetings and participate actively in efforts to support student learning and the mission of the department and the school
Work with the department chair, grade level team lead, administration, and counselors to ensure a seamless transition
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required, master’s preferred;
Shows a commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion;
Demonstrates the ability to work with students across multiple grade and skill levels, representing a wide range of abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
Effectively incorporates problem- and inquiry-based learning into their curriculum;
Experience with or interest in developing and teaching mathematics elective courses that incorporate data science, computer science, or interdisciplinary applications.
Collaborates with colleagues in the mathematics, science, and social science departments to design interdisciplinary coursework that highlights the role of mathematics in real-world problem solving
Is a fluent and thoughtful user of technology in both mathematics instruction and broader teaching applications
Values ongoing professional learning and stays informed about research-based best practices in teaching
Brings strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a sense of humor

Additional Information
This is a full-time, exempt position, and reports to the Upper School Division Head. The position has an expected start date of August 2026. Compensation is based on level of education and years of relevant experience.
