The Coordinator of the World Languages/ ESL Tutoring and Resource Center reports to the Academic Chair of the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. He/she will teach the equivalent of two three-credit-hour Spanish courses per semester. The Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Planning and delivering high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college.
Participating in curricular development, assessment, and revision at the course, discipline, and program levels, including assessment of student learning outcomes.
Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and demonstrating the use of the results of these assessments in courses.
Ensuring that principles of equity and inclusion are integrated in curriculum and instructional practice.
Ensuring that student knowledge, skills and abilities are aligned with current academic and workforce best practices.
Incorporating engaging and appropriate academic technology into all modes of instructional delivery.
Maintaining a commitment to ongoing and research-based professional development in pedagogy and subject matter.
Teaching assigned courses in accordance with description published in the college catalog and the approved course outline.
Provides academic advising and actively participates in collegewide recruitment, student engagement and retention strategies (e.g early alerts).
Scheduling required time to meet with students outside of class.
Active participation in departmental, campus and college committees/meetings.
Participating actively in the life of their department, home campus, and the college.
Fulfilling all contractual requirements related to faculty.
Coordinate, supervise, and participate in the development and maintenance of all aspects of the academic and student services provided by the Center, including bilingual services.
Assist ESL, ELL, ASL and World Language faculty and students with discipline-specific technology (language online course management systems account activation, orientations, use, maintenance, settings, technology issues, etc.)
Supervise the daily operations of the lab including staffing, scheduling, and training of adjunct professional assistants, college aides, and student aides.
Develop, implement, and update, when necessary, procedures and materials designed to assist students, faculty members, and others using the Center.
Monitor the work performance of all part-time professional assistants, college aides, and student aides working at the center.
Ensure that the instructional services being provided by the Center’s personnel match the academic needs of the students as well as the requirements of class instructors.
Maintain database records of student usage and submit FTE and other required reports at regular intervals to the College administration and teaching faculty.
Disseminate pertinent World Languages/ ESLTutoring and Resource Center information to the World Languages faculty and post information to the campus community on a regular basis.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Chair of the World Languages Department.
Covers ESL computer laboratory sessions/Spanish tutoring sessions when needed and may work evening and weekends.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Required:
M. A. in Spanish or Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in a college setting or professional/technical experience related to the discipline.
Experience with using a learning management system for teaching and course design and/or ability to use the college’s LMS (i.e. Brightspace).
Demonstrated bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
Preferred:
Ph. D or terminal degree in an area related to one of the following: Spanish, TESOL, or Higher Education administration related degree.
Experience with online World Languages/ESL online course management systems and academic lab programs.
