Salem State University is seeking two Instructional Designers to support excellence in teaching and faculty development. The instructional designers work closely with each other and other staff of the Center for Teaching Innovation to support the professional development of faculty, develop programming in collaboration with other departments, and aid in the design and development of courses in various modalities. Instructional designers work both independently and as part of a team. They also have some operational and administrative responsibilities in relation to program and project management, including scheduling workshops and other programming, publishing the weekly CTI newsletter, developing new resources, and maintaining the CTI main website.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Demonstrated experience building courses with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Demonstrated experience with instructional design principles, instructional technology, or digital pedagogy
Demonstrated experience and expertise in online learning and the use of Canvas templates OR demonstrated experience and expertise in the areas of inclusive pedagogy and assessment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or certificate in instructional design
Experience teaching at the college/university level
Experience teaching online
Experience providing professional development support for instructional technology, online teaching, or digital pedagogy
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices of teaching and learning, instructional design practices, assessment, and universal design for learning and accessibility standards
Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across units (IT, Library, Academic Affairs) and ranks (staff, administrators, faculty)
Ability to adapt to changing demands and instructional needs
Strong communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
Strong attention to detail
Working Conditions:
This is an on-site, in-person position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment; occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 5-10 pounds.
