Position Summary The Department of Modern Languages and Classics (MLC) at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time German instructor position to begin January 1, 2025 or August 16, 2025. Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based on the personnel requirements of the University’s academic programs and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship activities.
Detailed Position Information The Department of Modern Languages and Classics (MLC) at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time German instructor position to begin January 1, 2025 or August 16, 2025. The applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate German courses from first through fourth-year levels, with the possibility of teaching graduate courses in the German M.A. program. Literary/cultural specialization open. Successful candidates will possess native or near-native fluency in German and English and must demonstrate successful teaching at the university level. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in German in hand by January 6, 2025, and who have an ongoing research agenda. This is a three-year initial position with renewals based upon satisfactory performance review and program need.
