Oakwood School is seeking a long-term substitute teacher at the middle school level to join our team starting February 2025. This temporary role will encompass the responsibilities of a classroom teacher through the end of the academic year.
Oakwood serves bright students in grades 1-8 with learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Our approach centers on small class sizes, multisensory teaching, and individualized instruction. Each classroom has two teachers for 10-13 homeroom students, allowing for differentiated instruction and a collaborative work environment. With approximately 115 students, 22 classroom teachers, and a robust team of academic coaches and leaders, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment for students and staff.
As the Long-Term Substitute, you will:
Team-teach social studies to a single group of sixteen 7th-grade students.
Independently teach reading, writing, and math to a small group of up to seven students in 6th and 7th grades.
Participate in weekly collaboration meetings with cohort teachers and academic leadership to ensure cohesive and effective instruction.
Lesson plan and teach with support from current academic leadership.
Engage with students and families through regular communication and progress updates.
Participate in the academic reporting process with support from cohort teachers and academic leadership.
Due to the urgency of the position, qualified candidates who may need accommodations in scheduling but can comfortably commit to a consistent yet abbreviated schedule are encouraged to apply.

Required: 1-2 years of classroom teaching experience.
Required: Experience working with children with diverse learning styles.
