Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is seeking a creative educator for the 2024-25 school year to serve as a full-time Lower School (Elementary) PYP homeroom teacher. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who inspires others through optimism, flexibility, and teamwork. This candidate will enjoy collaborating with dedicated educators instructing lower school students through an intellectually stimulating, personally enriching, and academically challenging reading, writing, mathematics, and history/geography program. The ideal candidate would approach teaching and learning from a transdisciplinary and concept-based inquiry lens. In addition, the educator in this role will encourage respect for various viewpoints and cultivate a sense of responsibility within local and global contexts through education. Applicants should also be knowledgeable about social-emotional learning (SEL) and creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment where students can thrive. Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and Singapore math is preferred, but not required.

Be comfortable working with students to develop skills like critical problem-solving, questioning, and researching,
Collaborate with other teachers to design transdisciplinary, engaging, and empowering lesson plans that are culturally competent, student-centered, and thought-provoking,
Document student progress through ongoing observation and direct assessment activities, using data to plan and differentiate curriculum,
Have intellectual curiosity and a desire to spark a love of learning in students,
Have successful experience in working with culturally diverse students, teachers, families, and communities,
Qualifications:
Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
At least 2 years of teaching experience;
Excellent oral, organizational, and written communication skills;
Excellent listening skills;
Skilled at differentiating instruction;
A belief in the intrinsic relationship between social-emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy.
