Bard Early College in New Orleans engages bright, intellectually curious students through a tuition-free, immersive liberal arts curriculum offered to students in the last two years of high school. By promoting authentic and supportive undergraduate opportunities, Bard Early College faculty and staff prepare students of all academic backgrounds for further college success. Across our network, the Bard Early Colleges enable talented and highly motivated students to complete a high school diploma alongside an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College. Our academic program emphasizes student-led learning in small seminar-style classes. We offer team-based intentional support for our non-traditional students, and a culture of collaborative pedagogical development for our teachers.
Bard Early College New Orleans (BECNO), a partnership between Bard College and the Louisiana Department of Education invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Economics for this Fall semester which starts in July 2024. This position is for an in-person, 4-credit course taught only for one semester. Candidates must be available for Faculty and Staff Orientation for the start of the semester. Candidates who will have a Master?s or Ph.D. at the time of employment, or who are ABD, with high school and/or college teaching experience are preferred.
We are looking for candidates with familiarity using participatory pedagogy, a focus on interdisciplinary connections in their curricular design, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diverse working and learning environments. We are seeking educators with a commitment to social justice, who are passionate about their fields of study, and interested in working to advance equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic preparation.
The Economics course will meet two times a week, with some flexibility on the class times. The Spring semester begins on January 2, 2025.
