Description Assist the head coach by teaching advanced skills and techniques in the respective sport. Assist with daily practice planning and implementation. Coach athletes during contests and provide expert analysis of competition.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist in the teaching and supervision of student-athletes.
Demonstrate competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and the ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach.
Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes under the direction of the head coach.
Adhere to all sport governing, department, and institutional rules and policies.
Demonstrate a sincere interest in the personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes.
Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior pursuing sport program goals set by the head coach.
Demonstrate leadership ability and professional behavior when dealing with student-athletes.
Efficiently and effectively complete tasks assigned by the head coach or full-time assistant coach.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This is a part-time, non-benefits-eligible, administrative position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
The following HWS sports have part time assistant coaches/opportunities:
William Smith College: Alpine skiing, Basketball, Field hockey, Swimming & Diving, Soccer, Tennis
Qualifications
Bachelors degree required.
Candidate must have played the sport or coached at the collegiate level for a minimum of two years.
Possess strong communication skills and be willing to take initiative
Strong customer service orientation; positive, helpful, resourceful
Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances of others
Highly reliable, flexible and adaptable
