Bullis School seeks a full-timeUpper School Social Studies Teacherfor the 2022-2023 academic year to contribute to our vibrant learning community. The position starts on January 3, 2023 through the end of the school year. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success as a high school Social Studies teacher and have collaborated with colleagues in lesson design and planning. This position involves teaching five classes which include one section of tenth-grade Global History and four sections of ninth-grade Human Geography. The current opening is for a temporary position with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time, permanent position for the 2023-24 academic year.
The Bullis Social Studies program provides students with opportunities to develop an in-depth understanding of their communities and the world, past and present, in order to become responsible and empathetic global citizens. Each course focuses on developing skills and competencies - content, critical thinking, research, writing, and presentation skills - that students should both be prepared to engage in during the course and demonstrate significant growth in or mastery of at the end of the course. Students build foundational skills and competencies in 9th grade and continue to develop and expand their content and skills each successive year. Additionally, students are expected to actively demonstrate Bullis’ Core Academic and Institutional Values throughout their coursework and participation

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in History or relevant field (required)
Master’s Degree in History or relevant field (preferred)
Minimum of three years of teaching experience in secondary education (preferred)
Teaching certificates are not required
