Position Title: Middle School Art Teaching Fellow

We are seeking candidates who…
Have 0-3 years of teaching experience and a strong desire to teach middle school students art using best pedagogical practices
Hold a degree in visual art or art education and are interested in pursuing a career in teaching
Demonstrate experience working with clay, various drawing materials, paper, wood, and printmaking
Are excited to work with and support Middle School-aged students (grades 6-8)
Demonstrate a commitment to student-centered learning
Demonstrate a collaborative and growth mindset as a teacher and professional
Possess the cultural competency necessary for working with a diverse population in an equitable and inclusive community
Demonstrate the flexibility to use technology in support of student learning and other professional responsibilities
Communicate well, both in writing and verbally, with colleagues, students, and families
Model a culture of flexible, continuous learning to challenge and support students
Core Job Responsibilities
This role is a full-time teaching position with the following major responsibilities:
In the first semester:
Co-teach 2 sections of Middle School art classes with the MS visual art faculty
Assist art faculty with tasks as needed, including material preparation, artwork displays, and photography
Assist with class coverages across various disciplines in Middle School
Serve as a co-advisor for a group of approximately 12 Middle School students
In the second semester:
Serve as a long-term sub for one MS art faculty member
Assist art faculty with tasks as needed, including hanging shows, taking photos, and displaying work
Serve as a primary advisor for a group of approximately 12 Middle School students
All year:
Be a leader in the school’s co-curricular program in meaningful ways outside the classroom by coaching, leading extra-curricular activities, etc.
Other responsibilities including attending regular faculty meetings, professional learning communities, in-service days, and other supervision duties as assigned.
