Responsible for providing leadership, faculty support, planning, assessment and resource development for the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Program. The Program enhances student learning by fostering written discourse in disciplines across the University. Will oversee the Writing Fellows Program to integrate peer learning, organize and evaluate workshops, work with faculty to integrate writing into courses and contribute to various efforts to enhance student writing. Will support opportunities to include inquiry-based, interdisciplinary and high-impact pedagogies into courses and curricula. 1. Directs the Writing Across the Curriculum Program (WAC)
*Develops, implements and manages a strategic plan for the WAC Program
*Develops WAC programming in coordination with other student-centered writing programs and faculty development programs
*Tracks the program budget
*Annually assesses effectiveness of programs
*Prepares activity reports, informing supervisor about activities, budgets, assessments, plans, etc.
*Develop long-term partnerships with various high-need courses/programs to support writing instruction
2. Advises faculty on the development of assignments, teaching methods, course designs, etc. that foster improvements in student writing within disciplinary contexts
*Organizes workshops to help faculty develop appropriate writing assignments and strategies for effectively responding to student writing
*Disseminates information that help faculty keep abreast of up-to-date pedagogies and technologies that engage students in effective writing
*Develops guidelines for integrating written work in courses in a wide range of disciplines
*Coordinates efforts to enhance student writing
3. Directs the Technology, Research and Communication (TRAC) Writing Fellows Program
*Recruits, interviews, hires, trains and supervises cohort of 50 TRAC Writing Fellows
*Works closely with faculty and fellows in TRAC-fellowed courses
*Helps faculty develop student writing exercises that are well-integrated with learning objectives of the course
* Collaborates with staff across Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) and Library and Technology Services (LTS) to develop and integrate peer learning in various modalities across the disciplines, including research, use of data and new learning technologies
*Develops long-term relationships with courses, programs and departments that are identified as high-need, high-impact areas for improving student research and writing
*Communicates to faculty about TRAC activities and recruits faculty participants
*Enhances writing instruction with appropriate uses of instructional technologies and library services
*Experiments with new technologies and tools
*Develops programming together with other LTS staff
4. Conducts research, analyzes data and provides leadership across the University on matters related to writing and related areas of undergraduate education
*Develops and implements studies of writing at Lehigh, at course, department, College and University-wide levels
*Advises on assessment and accreditation in the undergraduate colleges
*Consults with faculty and University administrators on the role of writing skills in research, communication and critical thinking skills development
*Consults on pedagogical soundness of new initiatives such as digital media, documentary film courses, research projects, etc.
*Advises others on how to implement the University strategic plans emphasis on undergraduate skill development
5. Teaches courses with Department and supervisor approval
*Courses may include Composition, English or courses to prepare TRAC Writing Fellows
*Develops and implements curricula, provides instruction, assigns and grades student work; collaborating as necessary with Departmental faculty on curricular needs
6. Initiates and supports proposals for program funding from outside corporate, governmental and philanthropic organizations
*Develops and executes strategies for enhancing the funding level of the WAC Program
*Raises the visibility of writing as an educational objective at Lehigh
*Builds a communications strategy for external constituencies like prospective students, parents, donors and other institutions

Qualifications
Doctorate Degree in English or the equivalent combination of education and experience
One to three years related work experience
Extensive editing experience, especially for academic writing
Ability to think creatively and relate work to curriculum needs
Assist with curriculum development
Works well with in a collaborative team environment
Solid presentation skills
Strong organizational, analytical & interpersonal skills
Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
