Job duties and responsibilities for this tenure-track position includes: 1) teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework (up to 20 credits for the year) in courses relating to outdoor education; contributing to curriculum development, assessment, and innovation; advising undergraduate and graduate students, including chairing, and serving on graduate thesis committees; and participating in student recruitment and retention initiatives and in program marketing. 2) an active research agenda including conducting and publishing peer-reviewed research and seeking external funding for ongoing research including the support of graduate students, and 3) providing professional, community and university service (continuing, expanding, and/or deepening the relationship between UMD and local, regional, and national organizations; serving the campus/community/profession through committee membership or other leadership).

Required/Essential Qualifications:
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in relevant field (e.g., Outdoor Education, Adventure Education, Experiential Education, Human Dimensions of Natural Resources Management, Environmental Education, Park and Recreation Management/Tourism, Outdoor Recreation/Leadership, etc.)
A clearly articulated research agenda and scholarly record commensurate to faculty rank sought (Assistant or Associate Professor rank)
Commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering social justice
Preferred Qualifications:
4. Record of successful teaching experience in higher education (undergraduate and graduate) in lecture and field-based courses in or related to Outdoor Education (experiential education, adventure education, outdoor recreation/leadership, sustainability/climate change education, human dimensions of natural resources management, outdoor industry management, etc.) 5. Evidence of ability to integrate social justice issues (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, and/or environmental justice) into the curriculum 6. Demonstrated success working effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and communities 7. Record of successful scholarship including peer review journal publication and presentations 8. History of successful grant writing 9. Current engagement in the discipline (e.g. professional activity, scholarly publications, conference presentations or attendance, leadership, or participation in relevant associations) 10. Applied experience pertaining to outdoor education (experiential education, adventure education, outdoor recreation/leadership, sustainability/climate change education, human dimensions of natural resources management, outdoor industry management, etc.) 11. Ability to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in environmental and outdoor education
