Description
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a 2-year visiting assistant professor of anthropology, beginning July 1, 2023. This position carries a 6-course teaching load distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each), and the university's signature 4-week Spring Term.

Qualifications
Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. in anthropology by the time the position begins. Candidates should be prepared to teach introduction to (four field) anthropology as well as upper-level courses in cultural anthropology in their areas of research and teaching specialization. Regional and topical focus areas are open, though we are especially interested in candidates with teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: Indigenous Studies, applied anthropology, medical anthropology, and/or linguistic anthropology.
The university requires employees to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19, with one booster. New employees must provide proof of at least their first shot prior to the first day of employment. Individuals may seek a medical or a religious exemption to the vaccination requirement.
