Academic Services for Student Athletes is seeking a Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
Reporting directly to the Director of Academics for Student Athletes (ASA) The Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director is the principal decision maker for football counseling for ASA and directs a small team of academic counselors. This individual must possess and demonstrate superior understanding of NCAA, Pac 12, and University rules as they apply to the provision of academic support to student athletes. The ethical and moral decision making and actions of this individual must be accurate, transparent, and always in keeping with the rules of the NCAA, PAC 12, University, and ASA.
The Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director will provide counsel to student athletes regarding academics and life skills; act as liaison among coaches, teaching faculty, staff, and student athletes; work collaboratively with other units across campus in efforts to assist student athletes effectively; monitor the academic performance and eligibility of assigned student athletes to ensure compliance with institutional PAC 12, and NCAA requirements. The Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director will also be the academic recruiting liaison for official and unofficial football visitations and support the monitoring of Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data for football students.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Typically requires Master's degree in related field with minimum of 3 years experience in management responsibilities. Experience working with program participants.
Requirements :
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
