Advertised Job Summary:
The School of Visual Art and Design Art and Film and Media Studies Program invites applications for an Assistant Professor position beginning August 16, 2022. This is a tenure track position with a research specialization in African American television stars and their publics. Of highest interest are candidates who specialize in television studies, Black feminist theory, star theory, and social media activism. Scholars with a history of curatorial museum work are particularly encouraged to apply.
The position is a course load of 2/2 with teaching shared between the School of Visual Art and Design's Media Arts program (BA, MA) and the Film and Media Studies Program (BA). The candidate will be expected to teach large introductory lecture courses on Media Culture and contribute their expertise across intermediate and upper-level courses on film and media aesthetics, history, and theory; they will also develop elective courses in their research specialization.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
The successful candidate must have their Ph.D. in film and media studies (or a closely related discipline) in hand by August 15, 2022.
