Position Summary:
The School of Environment and Natural Resources seeks a dynamic and knowledgeable Semester Lecturer to teach ENR 2300: Human, Natural, and Economic Resources during the Spring 2026 semester. This course explores the intersection of human behavior, natural systems, and economic decision-making through the lens of social scientific theories and sustainability frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and rigorous instruction aligned with course objectives and expected learning outcomes.
Facilitate student understanding of:
Theories of social scientific inquiry (e.g., structural functionalism, social dilemmas, symbolic interactionism).
The complexity of coupled human and natural systems.
Political, economic, and social trade-offs in resource use and policy.
Sustainability in decision-making at individual and societal levels.
Guide students in applying theoretical frameworks to real-world environmental challenges.
Assess student learning through assignments, discussions, and exams.
Provide timely feedback and maintain regular office hours for student support.
Collaborate with department faculty and staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Environmental Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level.
Strong understanding of social science theories and sustainability concepts.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching interdisciplinary courses.
Familiarity with environmental policy, behavioral economics, or resource management.
Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices.
