Job Description:
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University invites applications for a Professor of Practice position in Advertising who can bring visibility to the School and our students. The job starts in August, 2025.
The successful candidate will teach both strategy courses, primarily in Media Planning, Creative Strategy and Advertising Campaign Development or other specialized skills to enhance the curriculum.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree is required.
Masters degree preferred.

Enthusiasm and promise for exemplary teaching, whether through prior teaching experience or professional mentoring roles supervising young advertising practitioners.
Evidence they can build close connections with the advertising industry, bringing cutting-edge knowledge to classroom, and sharpening students skillsets that meet industry demands.
Applicants with media planning experience are particularly desirable.
University teaching experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience working on major national brands either in advertising agencies or client-side media.
Responsibilities:
A Professor-of-Practice will teach three courses per semester. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate Media Planning, Creative Strategy Development, and campaign development. Courses the new hire might teach include multiple sections of ADV 301, 208, 507 and 425. The position expects connecting the Media and Strategy ad community with our advertising students. This could involve activities such as, inviting Media professionals to campus as speakers in the Eric Mower Advertising Forum, to help keep the curriculum current.

The department has about 350 majors coming from across the U.S. and around the world. The S.I.
