Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a part-time history teacher to teach two sections of history in our Upper School. These two sections could include a U.S. History survey course, which provides an innovative approach of connecting past and present themes across the chronological span of the nation’s history, and/or Human Geography, a survey course linking math, data, and statistics to patterns in migration, human population, and geographical evolution. An emphasis on developing writing skills and critical thinking characterizes both courses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach two upper school history sections
• Effectively integrate educational technology appropriately into the curriculum including managing a LMS
• Work closely and effectively with other history teachers to ensure the meaningful progression from course to course
• Communicate with parents proactively, positively and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students
• Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom
• Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole

Qualifications & Characteristics:

• Bachelor’s degree in history or other relevant subject; advanced degree preferred
• Independent school teaching experience preferred
• Creative, enthusiastic and innovative
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
