Are you passionate about shaping the future of project management education? We seek a dynamic and experienced professional for a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Director to lead our Project Manangement Institution (PMI) accredited Project Management Program. This unique position is designed for a leader who thrives on blending direct faculty instruction with strategic program oversight, ensuring academic theory is firmly connected to professional practice. As Program Director, you will manage all operational aspects, including curriculum development, course scheduling, and the program budget. A primary responsibility will be leading the program's critical PMI reaccreditation, ensuring continued compliance and successful renewal. You will also lead the advisory board and cultivate strong partnerships with local employers to enhance curriculum relevance and expand student career opportunities. In your faculty capacity, you will teach a range of project management courses, directly impacting student learning, and collaborate with advising staff on student success initiatives. This role requires a visible ambassador for the program, offering a significant opportunity to make a lasting impact on both the academic and applied dimensions of project management.
This position reports to the Dean for Business & Computer Science.
The salary range for this position is $80,024-$84,074 for a 176-day contract over the Instructional Year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for assignment of summer quarter courses or courses taught outside of the full-time position during fall, winter and spring quarters.The Director position will receive course release time, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, to accommodate required administrative duties.
Relocation expenses are part of the employment offer for the successful candidate if the candidate relocates to the Tri-Cities area from outside of a 175-mile radius.

Master’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or related STEM discipline from an institutionally accredited college or university;
Three (3) years of industry management and leadership experience;
Five (5) years of project management work experience;
Two (2) years managing significant projects from initiation through closure;
Active Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or commitment to obtain within 1 year of hire;
Experience with project management and other collaborative workflow software applications, including Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office Software Suite;
Experience creating and delivering project management content in a learning environment; and
Demonstrated experience or commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in professional or educational settings, particularly in relation to Hispanic and underserved communities. This includes personal andprofessional efforts to address challenges faced by these populations and advocate for their success.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate in Project Management, Business, Engineering, STEM field, or related field from an institutionally accredited college or university;
Experience in academic administration, program development, and curriculum design;
Two years of college-level teaching experience, including course creation and delivery, preferably with Canvas LMS and online modalities;
Specialized project management experience in fields such as engineering, construction, IT, governmental agencies, agriculture, or healthcare;
Expertise in project planning, Agile management, procurement, quality, risk, earned value management, and scheduling, with a background in leading process improvement efforts; and
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma. CBC serves approximately 7,000-8,000 students each quarter.Columbia Basin College now offers bachelor degrees in Nursing, Project Management, Applied Management, Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Dental Hygiene. These bachelor degrees are in direct response to the needs of our community. As a result of community needs, Columbia Basin College has recently opened our new state of the art Social Sciences and World Languages Center at the Pasco campus.In July 2017, CBC will open its second, four-story Health Science Center in Richland. In addition to training CBC healthcare professionals, the Wortman Medical Science Center will also be a functional medical clinic as part of Kadlec Regional Medical Center’s family medicine residency program.CBC will open a student housing facility in September.
