General Statement of Duties:
The Westfield State University Department of Economics seeks applications for part-time instructors to join our Part-time Faculty Pool. We currently have availability for the Fall 2025 semester for in-person courses including Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics. Qualified candidates may teach between one and three courses. We anticipate available courses in the Spring 2026 semester as well. Courses typically have 25 students each.
The Department of Economics seeks applicants with a passion for active learning and high-impact practices. Teachers in our department are responsible for providing students with quality, active learning experiences.
Part-time faculty will have access to a private workspace, access to a campus computer, access to other passionate faculty eager to discuss teaching practices and provide mentorship, and access to all departmental events.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to: Essential:
Course preparation
Preparation for all in-person classes
Instruction incorporating active modalities
Assessment of student performance
Availability to students for office hours
Job Requirements: Minimum qualifications:
Master's degree in Economics or a related field
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Willingness to engage with our learning management system (Brightspace)
A passion for implementing a variety of teaching and assessment strategies
