In line with its commitment to prepare students for the future, Xavier University hosts a variety of summer opportunities for middle and high school aged students designed to enrich their academic and social development. Through these programs, students will enhance their preparation for high school academics and get a jump start on understanding college life. Students have the unique opportunity to explore an area of interest on a deeper level through in-class discussions, laboratory experiences and cultural explorations.

About XULA and SOAR X:
In keeping with its commitment to prepare students for the future, Xavier University hosts a variety of pre-college programs designed to facilitate the academic and social development of middle and high school students. XULA's flagship pre-college program is SOAR X, a 4-week residential program for rising Juniors and Seniors that prepares participants for success in and beyond college. SOAR X exposes students to many facets and challenges of life in college—living with a roommate, balancing personal and academic responsibilities, and of course, excelling in demanding classes, to name a few. Students are also exposed to new academic and professional opportunities through co-curricular activities such as career panels and off-campus excursions.
Dates:
The program runs Saturday, June 21st- Saturday, July 19th, 2025. Classes will be held M-F (roughly) 9:00AM – 1:30PM. Instructors will be required to attend the program orientation for students and parents on the afternoon of Saturday, June 21st, and an awards ceremony for students on the evening of Friday, July 18th. Classes will not meet on Friday, July 4th or on Friday, July 18th.
Instructors will have two onboarding/training days on June 19th and 20th.
Courses:
Below is the list of courses that SOAR X students take while enrolled in the program. Please indicate in your cover letter which course(s) you wish to teach. One instructor could conceivably teach multiple courses, especially the ACT and SAT prep courses. Instructors will teach 2-3 sections of a course, depending on enrollment, and can therefore expect to lecture 6-9 hours per course per week.
