Assistant/ Associate/ Full (Open Rank) Professor – Information Systems
The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking outstanding candidates for an Open-Rank Tenure-Track position at the Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor level in Information Systems. We are interested in candidates whose research and teaching are in the following areas (broadly defined): 1) Economics of Information Systems, Digitization and AI, 2) Managerial and Societal implications of Technologies (e.g., Information Technologies, AI), 3) Digital Privacy/ Information Security, 4) Technology and Policy, 5) Human-Centered AI, and related topics. We welcome applications from candidates who will have earned their PhD by summer 2026, as well as from candidates currently in postdoctoral or tenure-line faculty positions. The position will start in the Fall of 2026.
The Heinz College
The Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University is home to two top-ranked schools: the School of Information Systems and Management and the School of Public Policy and Management. The Position
A successful candidate will have strong application interests and conduct outstanding research in 1) Economics of Information Systems, Digitization and AI, 2) Societal implications of Information Technologies and AI, 3) Digital Privacy/ Information Security, 4) Technology and Policy, 5) Human-Centered AI, and will contribute to our excellence in multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of data science, social science, and decision science. We welcome applications from candidates who will earn their PhD by the summer of 2026, as well as candidates currently in faculty or postdoctoral positions. We are seeking candidates with strong backgrounds in one or several related fields (including Information Systems, Economics, Management, Marketing, Computational Social Science, or Computer Science) who are interested in investigating topics in technology, social science, and policy. Empirical quantitative backgrounds are particularly desirable, and so is the ability to collaborate with other scholars and units on campus on interdisciplinary research. A successful candidate will publish in leading peer-reviewed academic journals and/or top conference proceedings; teach graduate and undergraduate courses and mentor students; secure extramural research federal funding; and contribute to school/college/university service. Holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Economics, Management, Marketing, Computer Science, Computational Social Science, or a related field.
