Position Overview The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Graduate Affairs Manager to lead and oversee graduate student services across six dynamic academic programs. This position plays a key role in shaping the graduate student experience, supporting academic excellence, and guiding strategic initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.
What You'll Do As the Graduate Affairs Manager, you will:
Lead a team of student services professionals and oversee graduate admissions, advising, student progress, and degree milestones.
Manage graduate student funding, including fellowships and teaching assistant (TA) allocations.
Serve as a key advisor to faculty, students, and department leadership on academic policies and procedures.
Develop and implement improvements to student services operations and coordinate student-centered events, outreach, and communications.
Support departmental goals through data reporting, assessment planning, and accreditation efforts.
Ensure compliance with university policies and serve as a liaison with Graduate Division and other campus stakeholders.
The full salary range for the Graduate Affairs Manager is $66,500 - $118,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $100,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Generic Scope Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Custom Scope Supervises Student Services Advisors providing advice to students within departments, schools, or colleges, involving a variety of student issues such as academic advising, outreach and recruitment, admissions, departmental requirements, student intervention, career counseling, and financial aid. Participates with department management in the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for Student Services operations. May represent the student services function on committees and other organization entities.
Department Custom Scope Under the general direction of the Department Financial and Administrative Officer (FAO) and in consultation with the Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs, the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) Director of Finance and Business Operations, Faculty Graduate and Undergraduate Student Advisors, Program Directors, and Department Chairs, this position has student advisory responsibility for six distinct multi-function programs, which includes : MS in CS degree, PhD in CS degree, joint 5-year BS in CS + MS in CS degree program, 5-year joint BS in Computer Engineering (CEN) + MS in CS degree program, MS in Robotics, and MS in Computational Data Science (CPDS). The major functional areas of graduate student affairs responsibility include: 1) Oversees Outreach, Recruitment, and Admissions; 2) Responsible for Fellowship packages 3) Advising; 4) Program Development and Management; 5) Supervision and other Related Duties under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. This position Independently conducts curriculum advisement, assessment, and matriculation of prospective and current students on academic matters as well as advising faculty, staff and students regarding policies and procedures on all aspects of graduate student affairs. The incumbent independently implements approved policies; collaborates with Graduate Division, department staff, multiple program advisors and faculty to develop short-term and long-term goals for the Computer Science and Engineering Department. The Incumbent helps to develop new programs, manage existing programs and oversees graduate student recruitment. The incumbent represents the college at campus-wide graduate affairs meetings, conferences and events; manages student outreach and orientation sessions. Develops, creates, presents and coordinates professional content and material for marketing and recruitment efforts and updates the Departments' Websites; performs research to assist the departments with accreditation and assessment (internal and external) reviews, i.e., ABET, BCOE Five-Year Plan and ad hoc data requests from Labor Relations, BCOE Dean's Office, Office of Research and Economic Development, etc., and assists faculty with data to describe the academic program for grant proposals, e.g., providing relevant statistical data on student population metrics. The incumbent will also Provide support to the FAO in the allocation of TA resources. The incumbent, in conjunction with the FAO, will find better ways to go about operational business and streamline processes across the various programs managed.

Oversees work of SAA 2 which includes: managing all aspects of the Computer Engineering graduate, Computational Data Science, and Robotics programs including recruitment, admission, advising graduate students, keeping track of students academic progress, assisting Graduate Advisor with students annual review, providing advice to students, faculty and staff on policy and regulations established by the campus and the Graduate Division, working closely with the CEN, CPDS and Robotics Graduate Advisors to update information in the general catalog and maintain and improve the content of the program website. Additionally, this position manages course enrollment of graduate students in CS, CEN, CPDS, and Robotics, is responsible for quarterly submission of CS course schedule for the department, project enrollment and set appropriate enrollment caps.
