Saddle River Day School is seeking a full-time English teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will teach English classes in 5th and 6th grade, as well as serve as an advisor to a small group of students.
Key responsibilities for this position are:
Teach 5 sections of English courses in 5th and 6th grade
Serve as an advisor to a group of students, providing guidance and support in their academic and personal development
Participate actively in the life of the school community beyond the classroom, including contributing to extracurricular programs, events, and committees
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related subject (advanced degree preferred)
Have experience teaching high-level Elementary or Middle School students (other relevant experience will be considered)
Demonstrate a passion for writing, reading, research, and helping students grow as thinkers and communicators
Effectively be able to manage a classroom and maintain accurate records
Collaborate effectively with colleagues to design and implement a student-centered curriculum
Connect and work with families to ensure student success
Foster a student-centered environment which encourages intellectual risk-taking and innovation
Incorporate current educational trends and meaningful technology into classroom pedagogy
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $60,000 to $85,000 (final compensation will be determined based on experience and education)
