The Upper School Social Studies teacher is a committed Sacred Heart educator who has a strong commitment to educating students in the Social Sciences and other related disciplines.
PrimaryResponsibilities:
Maintain Duchesne’s excellent Social Sciences education program, implementing appropriate curriculum based on the National Standards and History Content Standards.
Adapt teaching methods, instructional materials, and assessment tools to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
Work collaboratively with Social Studies faculty to design and implement Social Studies and other related curricula, as needed.
Evaluate each student’s growth and performance.
Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings and activities.
In the performance of his/her duties, Employee shall be guided by the Goals and Criteria of the Sacred Heart and the Catholic Faith. Candidates must also possess:
Bachelor’s Degree
Teaching Certificate
High level of competence using technology
Experience in a PreK – 12 environment, preferably in independent schools is a plus
Strong references to convey teaching abilities.

Upon Hiring
Successful completion of fingerprint-based background check and sexual offender registry information.

Authentically engage in the school’s self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
