Summary:
The Upper School Social Studies teacher is a committed Sacred Heart educator who has a strong commitment to educating students in the Social Sciences and other related disciplines.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain Duchesne’s excellent Social Sciences education program, implementing appropriate curriculum based on the National Standards and History Content Standards.
- Adapt teaching methods, instructional materials, and assessment tools to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Work collaboratively with Social Studies faculty to design and implement Social Studies and other related curricula, as needed.
- Evaluate each student’s growth and performance.
- Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings and activities.
- Other duties, as assigned by your supervisor.
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
In the performance of his/her duties, Employee shall be guided by the Goals and Criteria of the Sacred Heart and the Catholic Faith. Candidates must also possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching Certificate
- High level of competence using technology
- Experience in a PreK – 12 environment, preferably in independent schools is a plus
- Strong references to convey teaching abilities.

- Empathetic to children’s and parents’ needs.
Upon Hiring
- Successful completion of fingerprint-based background check and sexual offender registry information.
- Completion of CMG Safe Environment training
- Current CPR certification

- Authentically engage in the school’s self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
