This position reviews, awards and adjusts federal and private loan applications. Resolves loan reconciliation and discrepancies from both internal and external sources. Responds to loan, mail, phone and in person requests for assistance. Updates, maintains, and creates procedures for our online policies & procedure manual. The position will also evaluate students eligibility for and award Winterlude institutional financial aid and Federal TEACH Grant awards.
This position is anticipated to be filled on a fully remote basis if the identified candidate is not currently located in the Syracuse, NY area (within 50 miles). Not all geographical areas within the United States are eligible. Education and Experience:
High school diploma and 3 years of experience in Financial Aid required.
Associates Degree and 1+ year of Financial Aid experience, preferred.
FAAC certifications or accreditation preferred.
Employee must be eligible to obtain access to all Federal aid sites, which require employee, not be in default on any federal loans.
Skills and Knowledge:
This position requires the use of PeopleSoft, running and adjusting data reports and queries from software such as Power BI or Tableau.
Ability to interpret results of these reports to identify and resolve issues and detect trends.
Extensive use of email, Microsoft Office products, various federal and lender/servicer websites.
This position requires thorough knowledge of federal and university financial aid regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
Review, award, and adjust federal and private loan applications using independent judgement based on borrower request and both federal and university guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all Title IV and university regulations.
Total loan volume for the university is $500m+ annually.
Evaluate graduate students aid applications for federal loan eligibility, determine each students appropriate Cost of Attendance based on their enrollment intensity and number of instructional weeks, and award loans based on Title IV enrollment rules.
Award and originate these loans using independent judgement to follow all appropriate guidelines.
Monitor and process reports to identify and resolve loan reconciliation and discrepancies from both internal and external sources. May need to contact outside governmental and private agencies to solve issues.
Evaluate undergraduate students summer aid applications for federal Pell Grant, FSEOG, institutional grant, and federal loan eligibility.
Determine each students appropriate Cost of Attendance based on their enrollment intensity and number of instructional weeks, and award aid based on Title IV enrollment rules and institutional rules.
Respond to loan related requests for assistance (emails, phone calls) and troubleshooting of loan issues.
Provide guidance and counseling as appropriate.
