The School of Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York is seeking four full-time tenure track Assistant Professors with expertise in teacher education in Early Childhood, Childhood, Adolescent, Special Education, and/or one of these specific subject areas (mathematics, literacy, social studies). We seek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in teacher preparation programs. The successful applicant will engage with colleagues whose research interests and scholarship span pre-K to post-graduate education and who prepare students to be innovative scholar-leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:
The candidate should be prepared to teach both introductory courses and advanced courses in their area/s of expertise. Duties will include teaching courses across undergraduate and graduate programs as needed (2+2 load per academic year) based on candidate's expertise; publishing and obtaining funding to support research in their area of educational expertise; mentoring students; attending departmental and program meetings; and serving on department, school, and university committees.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or Ed.D in curriculum and instruction, teacher education, specific education subject area, and/or related education area from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 15, 2026.
Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
Active research program in early childhood, childhood, adolescent, educational psychology, special education, and/or a specific subject area (i.e., mathematics, social studies, and/or literacy) as evidenced by scholarly and professional publications, presenting at regional and/or national professional conferences.
Three or more years experience in full-time classroom teaching in PK-12 settings.
Experience in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate education courses.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated interest in personal ongoing professional development, incorporation of research to practice, and/or community engagement activities.
Teaching certification in early childhood, childhood (elementary), adolescent (secondary), students with disabilities, literacy, or related area.
Experience with teaching courses about multilingual learners
Experience seeking and/or securing research funding.
Ability to teach courses across the School's teacher education majors.
