The New York Military Academy (NYMA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated History/Social Studies Teacher to join our faculty. As a historic and prestigious military academy, NYMA provides a unique educational environment that blends rigorous academics with military discipline. We are looking for an experienced educator who is committed to fostering student learning and critical thinking in the field of history and social sciences.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for grades 9-Post Graduate, ensuring alignment with state and national standards.
Teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses in history/social studies, preparing students for AP exams.
Implement a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Foster an interactive and student-centered classroom environment that encourages inquiry and debate.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and academic support.
Collaborate with faculty and administration to support students' academic success and personal growth.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Uphold the values and traditions of NYMA, integrating discipline and leadership principles into the curriculum.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field (required). Valid teaching certification (preferred).
Experience teaching grades 9-12 in a structured academic setting.
AP-level teaching experience is highly desired.
Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
Ability to engage and motivate students in a military school environment.
Commitment to NYMA’s mission and values.
