The Spence School seeks two full-time Upper School (Grades 10-11) history teachers for leave-replacement positions. This position represents an opportunity to join a team of teachers engaged in the ongoing development of a dynamic Upper School history curriculum within the context of a girls’ school. The ideal candidate shows an appreciation for the craft of teaching, historical thinking and analytical skills, and regards collaboration as a community of adult learners as an essential component of professional growth.
Responsibilities
Teach three to four sections of 10th or 11th grade American History
Collaborate in teaching teams to design curriculum, assessments, and teaching methods
Participate in department-wide initiatives concerning issues of pedagogy and curriculum
Attend meetings and required community events during and after the school day
Qualifications

Approaches work with optimism, energy, kindness, and a sense of humor
Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
Demonstrates pedagogical skill, an appreciation for the craft of teaching, and love of history as a discipline

Possesses a master’s degree or equivalent experience
